Google silences dissident blogger

google kills blog

Although it has been updated about as much as I have lately, Mangosauce and David seem to have been doing alright by Google Adsense –that is until Google decided he was not worthy.

I commiserate with David as he goes up against Googliath ( sorry I couldn’t resist). I think Nocturnal Remission has made about 3 bucks through Adsense, so I really am not feeling all that threatened.

Big Koks

Yep, ITV have done it. What’s in a name anyway?

Slacken Returns

If you haven’t heard of Slacken before, this thread, my actual review of his performace at wake up 2005 notwithstanding, provides a pretty good insight into what this guy is all about.

Nin and Slacken @ EZZE

So if you want to see if he lives up to his own self-image, EZZE is the place to be Friday night.

As a caveat, NIN has been professional every time I have seen him play so no matter what happens there will be some decent banging trance for the faithful.

‘Social Order’ Takes the Life Out of Night Life

Here’s a pretty interesting article showing Bankoks Club scene in the eyes of the New York Times”

Q bar ID check

ID check at the door of Q bar.

A long wooden table obstructs the entrance to Silom Soi 2, a narrow pedestrian alley lined with gay bars a few blocks from Bangkok’s once-infamous red light district, Patpong. I’m going to D.J. Station, a local club where gays and straights alike gyrate to earsplitting rhythms on the cramped dance floor. Four burly men in jeans and T-shirts slouching at one end of the table point to a prominent sign written in Thai and ungrammatical English. No one under 20 can enter the soi (street) and everyone must present valid ID, which for non-Thais constitutes an original passport (no photocopies) or a driver’s license.

iPod Rebranded

Ok, so i have been on a sort of hiatus, avoiding for the larger part clubs, bars and DJ’s simply because I was feeling a litlte burnt out with clubbing and all its accompanying vices.

I do plan to get back into it soon though, perhaps going back to writing more about the Bangkok scene rather than writing only about what is happening on the international DJ scene (read Flix and Astra).

In the meantime, hope this tides you over

Hoffed on a feelin’

I have never gotten off on publishing links to other sites or doing internet content roundups, but this is just too damn good to be true. Be warned, while it is work safe, it may just change your life. Rude not to really.

Why dont we get more acts like this coming through town?

Rude Not To XI

RUDE NOT TO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mark Night @ Astra Saturday January 28

The lads at Blend bring us MOS sanctioned prog house. This could be interesting, but I fear it will just be predictable. There really aren’t that many other options though so what the hell.

Paul Van Dyke @ Astra Thursday Feb 2

If you haven’t heard of PVD, it probably time to go home and turn MTV back on. Expect hands in the air trance and glow sticks and whistles. This show has all the likelihood in the world of being as off the hook as the Paul Oakenfold traveling circus, without the many train wrecks.

Worth it for a giggle, but not much else. People watching is more the order of the day than train spotting at this gig.

DJ Spen (Soul Heaven) @ Astra Friday Feb 3

No shortage of places to be on this Friday night thanks to Mike and Crazy Vinyl Trax, Spen is definitely a great option if you have decided you simply can’t handle Q bar for Marky.

Though he was one of the founding members of Numarx , the people who actually wrote what was later to become the Milli Vanilli hit “Girl you Know Its True”, Spen has been prolific both playing promoting and producing soulful house –truly unfortunate timing for what will probably be a great night o’ music.

Marky @ Q Bar Friday Feb 3

Having missed him the first time around you can bet I won’t get burned twice!! The Q factor will make or break this gig and I think it will be a good one.

Sir Norman Jay MBE @ Flix Sat Feb 4

Another Partysan extravaganza, Norman Jay will be doing the deep house thing at Flix. Apparently all the issues have been resolved for this one: expect fixed drink prices, room to dance and low staff traffic on the dance floor. We shall see

I’d just like to say that while I’m all for deep house, it really doesn’t fit with the Flix sound or crowd. Here’s hoping for the best.

Satoshi Tomiie @ Astra Saturday Feb 11

How excited am I about this? I have been listening to Satoshi Tomiie’s stuff for the better part of 5 years. Expect some nice dirty prog and excellent mixing. I can’t wait.

DJ Nakadia Friday Feb 17 and Saturday 18 @ Glow and Astra

Playing two sets over two nights, Nakadia will cover the intimate to the dance hall , starting with the deep and funky at Glow and going big room at Astra the next night.

Interesting that.
